Love Led Zeppelin? If So, Mark Your Calendars for This Tribute Concert
Rock out with two of your favorite bands at this rock symphony! On Saturday, March 30th, Eagle 98.1 presents The Music of Led Zeppelin & The Music of Zebra, performed live by the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra! Amplified by a full rock band and accompanied by singer Randy Jackson’s screaming vocals, creator Brent Havens guest conducts the ensemble as they capture Led Zeppelin’s “sheer blast and power,” riff for riff.
What the Beatles were to the '60s, Led Zeppelin were to the '70s: a band so successful and innovative they wound up creating the prism through which their entire epoch was seen. Zeppelin ushered in the era of album rock -- they refused to release singles -- and of arena rock, playing ever-larger stadiums as their ticket sales skyrocketed. Other bands played on a similar field but Led Zeppelin carried a unique mystique cultivated by cryptic album art, distance from the press, and, of course, their music.
American hard rock unit Zebra formed in New Orleans in the mid-1970s. The trio soon won over the East Coast with expert Zep-like pomp-metal. Zebra's confident self-titled debut went gold, thanks to the air play of excellent singles "Tell Me What You Want" and "Who's Behind the Door." Always a strong presence on-stage, Zebra released a live recording in 1990 with two great unreleased gems. After a significant hiatus, the band reconvened in 1997 and began playing shows, eventually releasing their aptly-named fourth LP, IV, in 2003.
Get your fill of hard rock hits when you witness The Music of Led Zeppelin & The Music of Zebra on Saturday night! Tickets begin at $47 and are available via Ticketmaster. VIP packages are also available for purchase and include an after-show Meet and Greet with Zebras Randy Jackson, Guy Gelso, and Felix Haneman, and Guest Conductor Richard Carsey.
